The concert will witness participation from artists hailing from all genres of music from every continent, specifically invited to be a part of this multi cultural celebration. Musicians like Wayne Shorter, Jack DeJohnette, Wynton Marsalis, Herbie Hancock,George Duke, Christian McBride, Jimmy Heath, Hugh Masekela, Dianne Reeves, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Angelique Kidjo, Zakir Hussain and Lang Lang have already confirmed their participation. The Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz, the United Nations, UNESCO and the United States Department of State, have invited Shankar Mahadevan to participate in the United Nations concert on Monday evening, April 30th. ![]() The UN concert will pay tribute to jazz and its diplomatic role of uniting people in all corners of the globe. The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) recently designated April 30th International Jazz Day. The day will end with a major concert in the General Assembly Hall of the United Nations in New York. Shankar Mahadevan, who caused the world of deep sea diving a great loss when he chose to be a singer, will perfrom at the United Nations on 30th April.
